Venice photoGRAPHY workshop
The Secrets of venice
Jürg KaufmaNN + Manuel martini

Join our exclusive four-day photography retreat in the enchanting city of Venice and stay in an exclusive historic residence, located in the heart of the city close to the iconic San Marco Square. Inspired by the Venetian wisdom, „I segreti più segreti di Venezia sono quelli che si custodiscono da soli“ this retreat will enable you to uncover the city’s well-guarded secrets - many of them inaccessible to the usual Venice tourist - and to capture them through your own eyes.

This workshop is based upon relationships with Venetian locals which have developed and grown for more than 20 years now, many of whom I’m privileged enough to call friends. For the better part of the last two decades, they have helped me gain access and allowed me to photograph in places that would have remained closed without their support.

Therefore, our workshop has its focus entirely on quality and experience, from capture to preparing and carefully curating a portfolio.
The goal of this retreat is to take time on location, allowing us to observe, to revisit and to build a much deeper, more meaningful connection to a place. Over the space of 4 days participants will be able to create a collection of carefully curated, beautifully crafted original photographs that reflect their very own personal vision.

Truly an in-depth experience that is designed to deepen your connection to history, art, and photography and will certainly transform you as a photographic artist.

You’ll be able to explore Venice’s less-traveled paths with expert-led tours on foot and by water taxis, guided by professional photographers as well as locals who know just about every hidden gem and side canal there is. We’ll be starting early morning to get the best of the light before we find ourselves in an authentic café for breakfast.

There’ll be both free time to simply wander through the subtle mysteries of the city and to get lost in the numerous side streets as well as visits of Venice’s iconic museums and famous art collections accompanied by art historians followed up by discussions on the experienced - further strengthening your visual storytelling and understanding for composition and light.

Each day will be filled with practical shooting sessions, personalized critiques, and enlightening discussions on visual storytelling, ensuring an immersive learning experience.

Truly a privileged in-depth experience that will enrich and transform you as a photographic artist.
